Compare And Merge Documents Online

I've seen this new web app mentioned several times today. I'm going to check it out later this week. It occurred to me, CompareMyDocs would really come in handy when you have critique buddies sending back their assessment of your writing. It's always been a bit of a hassle to open various files and compare what one critique partner or contest judge said about the same passage.

If you get a chance to try it, let me know your thoughts.

November: National Writing Month and Diabetes Awareness

Did you sign-up for NANOWRIMO this year? I signed up for this event for the past 2-3 years. While I'm itching to start on a new story, I'm determined to put to rest older ones. I finalized the edits for my romantic suspense, When Rain Falls, back in September. Now I need to do the same for my cozy mystery, Deep Fried Trouble (DFT).

My main character in DFT has diabetes and November happens to be Diabetes Awareness Month. While I develop the final draft for this character, I will also be gathering my research on diabetes. I'm not quite sure what I'm going to do with it yet, but I know it will come in handy down the line. I've learned a lot of good tips from marketing buddies. ;-)

Barnes & Noble to Launch Kindle Competitor

As an avid bookworm, I've had my eye on an eBook reader for awhile. Still torn between the Kindle and Sony Reader. Now it appears I might want to wait a little longer before I make a purchase.

Barnes & Noble are coming out with their own eReader.

I'm also very curious about this infamous Apple Tablet that might make an appearance in 2010.

Tough being a bookworm and a techie person. So many choices.

Writing Cozy Mysteries Workshop Starts July 13th

I've taken class via the Orange County Chapter of Romance Writers of America (RWA). I've really enjoyed them and have referred back to my notes on various occasions.  One of my manuscripts is the first novel in a cozy mystery series, so I'm looking forward to signing up for this class in July. Check it out! --- Ty

ABOUT THE CLASS

In Cozy Writing 101, Emily Brightwell will share the method she uses to plot her "Inspector and Mrs. Jeffries" Victorian mystery series. In this class, Emily will cover everything from how to come up with a real killer of an idea to how to get to the solution of the crime. Topics covered will include: coming up with your protagonist, how to find the very best suspects, the kind of setting needed for a cozy, how to plant clues and red herrings and finally, the final resolution. This is the same great class Emily taught here in 2006!
